Terms of service
Effective 22 August 2026. By using GetGrinds.ie you agree to these terms.
These terms govern access to and use of GetGrinds.ie (the “platform”). They are written for clarity and reflect how the product works today. They are not a substitute for legal advice. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
1. The platform
GetGrinds.ie connects students (or guardians booking on their behalf) with independent tutors in Ireland. We provide listing, booking, payment and related tooling. We do not employ tutors and we do not deliver the tuition ourselves. Tutors are responsible for the quality and content of their lessons.
2. Accounts
- You must provide accurate registration information.
- You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping login details secure.
- Roles on the platform include student, tutor and admin. Role and permissions are determined by us server-side; you cannot grant yourself elevated access.
- We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, abuse the service, or create safety or payment risk.
3. Tutors
- Tutors set their own hourly rates in euro, subjects, levels and availability.
- Tutors must complete verification before appearing in public search. Publishing a profile does not guarantee acceptance or bookings.
- Tutor-specific information belongs on the tutor profile, not as a substitute for accurate teaching credentials you claim publicly.
- Payouts use Stripe Connect. Tutors must complete Stripe onboarding and keep payout details current. We deduct a platform fee of 15% of the lesson total (exclusive of any Stripe fees Stripe may charge under its own terms).
4. Bookings and payments
- Lessons are typically 12 hours’ minimum notice and may be booked up to 28 days ahead, subject to the tutor’s availability.
- Unpaid bookings expire after 15 minutes.
- The price charged is calculated from the tutor’s rate at booking time and snapshotted onto that booking. Later rate changes do not alter an existing booking.
- Payments are in euro and processed by Stripe. Stripe is the source of truth for payment state.
- Contact details between student and tutor are withheld until the booking is confirmed.
5. Cancellations and refunds
Unless we state otherwise for a specific case:
- Student cancels with 48 hours or more before the lesson starts: full refund.
- Student cancels with 24–48 hours’ notice: 50% refund.
- Student cancels within 24 hours of the start: no refund.
- Tutor or platform cancels: full refund to the student.
Refunds are returned to the original payment method where Stripe supports it. Timing depends on the card issuer.
6. After the lesson
Confirmed lessons may be marked completed after the scheduled end. Tutor payouts are subject to a dispute window of 48 hours after completion and to Stripe’s payout rules. Students may leave a review after a completed lesson.
7. Acceptable use
- Do not harass, discriminate against or endanger other users.
- Do not attempt to circumvent fees, payments, verification or contact-withholding rules for confirmed bookings.
- Do not scrape, attack or reverse-engineer the platform in a way that harms security or availability.
- Do not post unlawful, misleading or infringing content on profiles or reviews.
8. Minors
Where a student is under 18, a parent or guardian should create or supervise the account and bookings. Tutors must behave appropriately with minors and follow applicable safeguarding expectations for private tuition in Ireland.
9. Intellectual property
The platform’s branding, software and site content (other than user-submitted content) belong to us or our licensors. Tutors retain rights in their own materials but grant us a licence to host and display profile content for operating the marketplace.
10. Disclaimers and liability
The platform is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not guarantee continuous uptime, that a particular tutor will be available, or any academic outcome. To the fullest extent permitted by Irish law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for disputes arising solely from the tutoring relationship between student and tutor. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
11. Privacy
Personal data is handled as described in our privacy policy and cookie notice.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date on this page. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms where permitted by law.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Courts in Ireland have jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections that may apply.
14. Contact
